Following the success of an ice hockey game last year between supporters of the Sheffield Steelers and the Nottingham Panthers, we decided to do it all again. This year’s event will collect money for the junior set ups in Nottingham, Sheffield and Sutton. We believe in the future of the sport of ice hockey and know that at the grass roots level money is short. For us all to continue to enjoy the sport at the top level, the bottom needs our help.
To this end, on Sunday July 29 at Ice Sheffield we will again take to the ice for the honour of our clubs and in support of the juniors.
This year there will be 3 games, beginner, intermediate and advanced, the advanced game will be of a similar standard to ENL. The players will skate out and give their all in pursuit of the inaugural HOSNIC Cup. The event is meant to be fun and also serve as an introduction for people wanting to give it a go, indeed many of us only started last year for that game.
This years Teams will have an added incentive to perform as with the very kind permission of the Steelers and Panthers, the teams will be called 'The fans of the Steelers' and 'Fans of the Panthers' will be able to wear fully crested jerseys including the Steelers and Panthers logo's! They are, in effect, Sheffield Steelers and Nottingham Panthers players! This is an awesome privilege and one we hope to do justice to on the day.
Between games there will be lots of competitions’ and things to do including 'Ice the wife' 'Hunt the beer', skills comps and much more. We have had lots of prizes donated to date including items of memorabilia from the Steelers and match tickets from SUFC and Notts County. Others continue to donate daily and this site will be updated with all the latest news on prizes.
Entry to this event will be £1 on the door, your ticket will double as entry in to one of our fantastic competitions. Come down to the event and have a charity day with a difference! The venue is licensed and the event will be catered. There will also be some merchandise stalls for you to look around and we hope to get some special guests down from the sporting community. It promises to be a very exciting and interesting day, tell your friends, family and anyone you know; this will be the ONLY place to be Sunday July 29th.
